We decided to continue the animal exploration and brought
out a safari scene for exploration. The
children were very interested in sorting and grouping the animals by types or
families. Again our pretend play
developed into higher levels by acting out swimming, climbing trees and eating
food. We were especially excited when we
noticed the giraffe print on our shirts, arms and faces when we were playing
near the wall. We talked about how we
looked like giraffes and we started acting out being giraffes. We plan to explore different animal prints on
the wall and see how the children react when they see the prints projected onto
their own bodies.
We have noticed the children engaging more with each other
during the scenery explorations. Their
animals are starting to interact with each other and we are beginning to see
more modeling and social learning throughout the group.
