Dressing Babies

Last week we explores with bathing babies and getting them dressed was the next step. The baby dressing activity was quite interesting. At first the children did not feel confident in dressing the babies themselves, even though they were physically capable. I think that the children did not want to get frustrated trying to dress the babies. But after being guided on “how to” dress the babies, all children were successful and proud at their accomplishments of dressing the babies. The children also enjoyed looking at the selection of baby clothes and were happy that the babies had new clothes. A few of the children were rocking the babies after getting them dressed and other said that the baby needed a nap. As the children were dressing the babies I noticed that they were being very careful as if to not hurt the babies.

After hard work of dressing the babies the children were still engaged in playing with them. They were rocking them and carrying them around the room with them. Feeding is another important task in caring for a baby. In our class we are also talking about restaurants so I feel that is would only be appropriate to feed the babies. Our next activity will be feeding the babies using many different materials.
